Valentine's Day wreath

Wow!  I cannot believe it's already almost Valentine's Day!  I swear it was just Christmas!!  I am not complaining that time is flying though.  I am ready for SPRING!!!  I am so sick of this cold weather.  And I live in Florida!  I feel so bad for the people in truly cold climates.  Yowza! 

Anyway, I worked on a little Valentine's Day project the other day.  I realized I don't have any V-Day decorations.  I had a flag for outside and that was it!  So I decided to make a little wreath.  Nothing special.  But, I saw this wreath the other day on Tatertos & Jello:

Cute, right!?!  I already had a wreath form, but it wasn't heart shaped.  I looked for one on my next trip to Michaels but they didn't have one so I decided the one I already had was good enough.  It was just a flat wooden form.  It'll do!  So I grabbed some red yarn and wrapped that bad boy up!

Then I glued on some cream colored felt.

Then I used my Cricut to cut out some black vinyl letters that say "LOVE" and placed them on the felt.  I used a little extra glue on the back of the letters because vinyl doesn't exactly stick to felt like a charm.  I used some pink felt and a cute scrapbooking brad I had on hand to make a little flower.  Then I used some ribbon I had on hand to tie to the top and hung it on my door!  It turned out cute!



Pretty easy and pretty cute!  Doesn't get much better than that!

Fabric rosette picture frames

I am so excited to share this post!  Why so excited you might ask?  Well, I was finally able to fit in some much-needed crafting time Tuesday night!  My girlfriend Amber (you might remember her from this post) came over and we got busy on some crafts.  We saw this month's Create With Me challenge over at U-Create Crafts and we knew we had to join in.  The "Create With Me" for this month was fabric rosette picture frames!  Sooooo stinkin' cute (and easy....score!).

We worked at my new craft table that I built (post on that coming soon) in the apartment above the garage.  It's definitely nice having a space to spread out and make a mess!

These frames are so simple to make.  All you need are some of those plain $1 wooden frames from Michaels, some acrylic paint, some fabric, a hot glue gun, and any embellishments you want.  I got a 1/4 yard of each fabric from JoAnn's and have a TON left over to do more frames.  You only need small strips of the fabric for the rosettes.

We were bad at taking pictures during the process, but it's so simple.  We just followed this tutorial.  SO easy!  Love it!  We did a couple things different, though.  We didn't "distress" or "age" our edges.  We liked the clean lines.  And I personally am not a huge fan of all the "Keep Calm...." sayings, so I put a monogram in my frame instead.  Take a look....

Amber also found that she liked the rosettes better when she didn't twist the fabric as she was wrapping it around.  It had a little bit more of a 3D effect to it.  The rosettes look great either way. 

On another note, I have something super exciting that I'm starting and I can't wait to share.  It's not quite a finished product yet, so I'm not revealing what it is just yet.  But it's something I'm super excited about!  Yay!

Christmas crafts

I cannot believe Christmas is only 12 days away!!!  Time flies!  I am glad the weather is cold here in Florida.  I felt like a fraud having Christmas decorations up with it being 70 degrees outside! 


Lately, in between feedings and naps, I have been working on some Christmas crafts for my family (hopefully they're not reading this)!  I wanted to give some handmade gifts this year.  Mainly because I just love creating and making things.  But also, it is much easier to sit at my dining room table and spread all my junk out and just make away than it is to fight crowds at the mall with a newborn baby. 


The first thing I started working on was Santa pots.  I made 5 of them, but I only have 1 complete so far.  Check it out:

This was so easy to do and I found the idea on another blog.  I cannot remember which one to save my life and of course I can't find the post either.  As soon as I find it, I will be sure to link up because I would like to give credit where credit is due!  I got regular terra cotta pots from Michael's and spray painted them red.  I used Krylon's Banner Red in gloss.  I then painted a black strip down the middle of the pot just using regular acrylic paint and a sponge brush.  I found white boas at Michael's for $1.99 and I could do 2 pots with one boa!  Score!  I cut the boa and hot glued it across the top of the pot.  I got silver sequins (also at Michael's) and hot glued them on in a square to make Santa's belt buckle.  And voila!  A super cute Santa pot that I am going to fill with goodies for my aunts and uncles!

The next little thing I've been working on are ornaments for my family.  I knew I wanted to use my Cricut and some vinyl for these ornaments.  I found a really neat tutorial on how to make glitter ornaments.  What a neat idea!

Here are the supplies you need:

• glass ornaments (I got mine from Target)
• fine glitter (I used Martha Stewart glitter)
• Pledge floor cleaner with Future Shine
• vinyl
• Cricut machine
• ribbon
• Saran Wrap

It is important that you get the right kind of Pledge.  I found mine at Walmart and it is the kind that has Future Shine (whatever that is....I have no clue).  It has a blue lid.  This Pledge has something in it that makes the glitter stick.  Here's how to do it:

1. Pour some of the Pledge into your ball.  You only need to pour a little bit.  Then you cover the opening of your ball with the Saran Wrap and swish the Pledge all around the ball.  Pour out the excess Pledge.
2. Next, pour some of your glitter (make sure it's fine glitter, not chunky) into the ball.  Again, cover the opening of the ball with the Saran Wrap and swish your glitter all around.  Make sure you cover the entire ball.  It's easy to miss the spots that didn't get covered so be sure to check your ball over real good.
3. Put the ornament cover back onto your ball.
4. Last, figure out what you want to put on your ball.  Like I said, I chose to use vinyl and my Cricut (I used images and letters from the Winter Woodland cartridge).  If you don't have that option, you could do endless other things.   You could paint on your ball, you could use scrapbook stickers, you could use etching cream, etc.  The possibilities are endless!

I also made an ornament for one of my best friends who owns a cheerleading gym.  The name of her gym is Cheer Co. and their logo is kind of like the Chanel logo with the 2 C's and one of them is backwards.  Their colors are turquoise and black.  Here is how her ornament turned out:

I think that one is my favorite!  She was so tickled when I gave it to her and she told me I could probably sell those at the gym and make a killing next year.  So we'll see how that works out!

Cutest wreath ever??

Ok, so I have to admit.......I LOVE coming downstairs every morning, pouring my ridiculously large bowl of Cheerios, sitting down and opening my computer to read my blogs in Google Reader!  It seriously is one of my favorite parts of the day!  So today, I was a little late getting to my daily blog reading.  Anywho, in one of the blogs (I forget which.....maybe Tatertots & Jello) I saw the stinkin' cutest wreath I think I have seen yet!  I have been seeing so many adorable Fall/Halloween wreaths lately, but this one takes the cake!  Check it out:

{Lemon Tree Creations}

Eeepp!!  With the witches feet hanging down!!!  So adorable.  This lovely wreath comes from Patrice over at Lemon Tree Creations .  To see how she made this wreath, head on over to the tutorial and check it out! 

I am wondering if you can do something like this for Christmas (like.....do Santa legs instead of witch legs.  OOhhhh.....or ELF legs!!  Yes, elf legs would be so stinkin' cute!).  Ok, well it looks like I have found myself a project to work on.  I have to move on to Thanksgiving and Christmas because Halloween is just too close for me and with little Emily making her debut any day now, I can just kiss Halloween goodbye this year.
