Emily – 5 Months

Wow!  I absolutely cannot believe my baby is already 5 months!!  So much has changed since 4 months!!  It’s crazy!

Here are some pictures I took of her on April 3, 2011

Here are Miss Emily's 5 month stats:

Height:  Not sure.  We didn’t have a doc’s appt. this month.  I’m going to assume she’s around 25”.

Weight: Probably somewhere around 14.5 or 15 pounds

Head Circumference: Not sure (again, no doctor’s appointment)

New Developments: Wow!  Where do I start???  Emily, you have started rolling like a mad woman!  A couple weeks ago, you really started rolling from your back to your stomach.  Then, you would get on your stomach and not know how to get to your back!  You are still rolling like crazy.  You have even started doing it in your sleep.  You now sleep on your tummy pretty much every night.  It scared us pretty bad at first, but we are more comfortable with it now and you seem happy, so we are okay!  You have also started on some “solid” foods.  I started you out on rice cereal from a spoon.  You did pretty good.  But then, I went to a class that said rice cereal is actually not the best first food for you!  So, I started giving you some bananas (today, in fact)!  You seem to really like bananas.  I can’t wait to start making you your own baby food!  You are talking more than ever!  You make all kinds of noises with your mouth.  You also giggle a lot.  You are really playing with your toys more and more.  You can hold on to things pretty well.  You took your first beach trip about a week ago.  You got in the pool and seemed to really enjoy it.  You are in size 2 diapers and wear size 3-6 months clothes.  You are growing like  a weed and we just cannot believe it.  I pray that we remember and cherish this time forever!

Emily – 4 Months

It is absolutely amazing to me to see how much changes in just one month.  Our baby girl is getting soooooo big!  I'm kind of starting to freak out.  I just want to freeze time and cherish this time as long as possible.

I am a little late getting to this post (her 4 month birthday was on March 3rd), but I have been sooooo busy lately.  Better late than never, I guess!

Here are some pictures I took of her on March 3, 2011:

This flower on her headband looks red but it's really hot pink.  I made it (imagine that)!

Here are Miss Emily's 4 month stats:

Height:  24" (she was 19.3" when she was born)

Weight: 13 pounds, 8 ounces

Head Circumference: 39cm

New Developments: Emily, you are growing like a weed!  You have finally started to enjoy tummy time a little bit more.  You can lift your head during tummy time with ease.  Speaking of which, you rolled over for the first time on February 19th!  I was out of town and I missed it, but you did it for me a couple more times when I got home!  You've only rolled over 3 times but I can tell you are working on it every time you are on your back or tummy.  You are so alert!  You are very playful.  You love to play with some of your toys and you especially love your play mat because of the toys hanging down from it.  You are reaching for objects now, as well.  You put just about everything into your mouth.  This definitely doesn't mean that you're just hungry anymore.  You play with your fingers, hands, and feet a lot.  You have the cutest giggle that you do when we are playing with you.  You LOVE attention.  We can't sit you down for very long.  You are still wearing a size 1-2 diaper.  Although I think you will be moving on to size 2 diapers very soon.  You have yet to have bad diaper rash.  Your bottom has gotten a little reddish, but definitely not super red like a rash.  You aren't quite sleeping through the night yet (or shall I say anymore).  You usually wake up once or twice in the night.  We have started giving you a little formula and you have adjusted well to that.  This past week, I started giving you a little rice cereal as well.  I've only given it to you twice with your bottle and you seem to like it.  Our love for you continues to grow with every single day.  You are our life and mommy & daddy love you to pieces.  Never, ever forget that!

We’ve got a roller on our hands!

Well…..sorta!

I was away on a bachelorette party weekend before last.  And, as my luck would have it, Emily rolled over for the first time!  I was so proud and so upset all at the same time.  Scott wasn’t able to get it on video so I missed the very first roll over.  *sigh*

But, she did it again when I got home!  I definitely had been video taping her and finally gave up so I put the camera down and as soon as I put the camera down and stopped recording, she rolled over!  Again, just my luck!  So a couple days later I tried to catch it on video again and I was successful!  Here’s the vid:

She has only rolled 3 or 4 times.  But, she’s pretty stinkin’ cute with her little bald spots!  I love it!  Needless to say, I am a proud mama!  She’s doing so great and is a happy, chunky little baby!  Praise!

Mamas…..hold your babies tight!

Just when you start to take your child for granted, I want you to stop what you are doing and go read this blog:

http://kandjstaats.blogspot.com/

My heart breaks for this family.  Emily will be 4 months old on Thursday.  I cannot imagine losing her now.  Or ever for that matter.  There is an auction on Facebook today in honor of their sweet baby girl and there is actually some really cute stuff up for grabs.  Here is the link to the auction:  http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=44960&id=186874161353204

I don’t know these people.  I just happened to find their blog.  But my heart is broken for them.  I am definitely holding my sweet girl tight today.

White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies

Ok, so a friend gave me this recipe this summer.  From the first time I made these cookies, I was in love.  They are soooooo yummy!  I’m not usually a fan of nuts in my desserts, but these cookies are amazing!  I made them at Christmastime for my family, and they were gone by the end of the night.  I made them on Sunday for the Super Bowl party as well and we had a couple left over (I doubled the batch).  So, here’s the recipe:

{source}

  1. Gather up your ingredients

2.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

3.  Soften butter slightly.

4.  Cream the sugar, brown sugar, vanilla and butter. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.

5.  Add flour and baking soda. {FYI: Add anywhere from 1/2- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda. The more you add the fluffier the cookies will be. I prefer to add the minimum for a gooey cookie.} Mix ingredients well.

6.  Add white chocolate chips. I use almost a 12 oz bag. Also add chopped nuts at this point. Mix well.

7.  Bake at 350 9-10 minutes.

The key to these cookies is to remove them from the oven when they still look undercooked. When you can just see the edges beginning to get brown is the right time to remove them from the oven. Let them sit on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before you try to remove them.

These cookies are seriously so yummy!  Let me know if you make them and how they turned out!

Super Bowl

So we had a huge party at the house for the Super Bowl.  And wouldn’t you know, I didn’t take one single picture.  I was crazy busy allllll day long.  I made about 5 appetizers and 5 desserts, cleaned the house like a mad woman, and took care of the baby all right by myself.  Scott had friends in town and played golf.  I was a little stressed on Sunday, needless to say.  The party started at 6:00 and of course at about 5:55, Emily decided she was hungry.  Argh!  So before I had to run upstairs to feed her, I did snap a couple shots of some of the food.

{I made the cupcake stand and all of the food had those cute cards that I whipped up in Photoshop.}

IMG_4902

{Believe it or not, this was the very first time I had ever made cupcakes.  I truly don’t think I’ve ever made a cupcake in my entire life.  Weird.}

All in all, it was a great time with great friends.  But, I think I’ll only do it again next year if I can either hire a babysitter or a maid before the big day.

Emily – 3 Months

Holy cow!!  Is my baby girl seriously already 3 months!?!  Time flies.  It’s funny because I feel like 3 months sounds like a long time.  But when I look back on our delivery day, time in the hospital, and some other events that took place within the first month, I feel like that was a year ago!!  It’s weird.  Emily had professional pictures taken on Saturday (which I am super excited to share when we get them)!  But, in the meantime….here are some not so professional pictures I took last Thursday (February 3, 2011), on her 3 month birthday!

Here are Miss Emily’s 3 month stats:

Height:  Not really sure.  She didn’t have a doc’s appointment this month.  But, we can definitely tell she’s getting longer!

Weight:  I’m guessing my girl is clocking in at a good 13 or 14 pounds.  She was 11 lbs 6 oz at her last appointment a month ago.

Head Circumference:  Again, no idea.  We’ll get an update at her 4 month appointment.

New Developments:  Emily you are now wearing a size 1-2 diaper.  The size ones fit you pretty good, but the size 1-2 fit you great.  Boy oh boy have you discovered those hands!!  I am so amazed at how alert you are.  You pay attention to us when we walk in a room or walk away from you.  You follow us with your eyes.  You definitely don’t skip a beat.  You are grabbing things now.  You like to play with your burp cloths.  You grab them and put them up to your face.  The other day, mommy was wearing a scarf and you were just pulling and tugging on it.  It’s really amazing to watch you grow and learn new things every day.  You are still “talking” up a storm.  You coo and make the funniest noises.  You have recently started blowing spit bubbles with your mouth.  It is too funny.  You are also sleeping in your crib like a big girl!  You have been sleeping in your crib for a few weeks now and you are doing great!  Mommy really thought the transition from our room to your crib was going to be a tough one, but it really wasn’t.  It didn’t phase you a bit!  You are such a good baby.  Mommy did some research and read some books and I have you sleeping like a champ now!  You are a pretty good napper (you nap in your own crib, too) and you sleep great at night.  For about the past 2 weeks, you have been sleeping from 9:00 pm until 7:00 am.  AMAZING!!  That’s 10 hours!!  Holy cow!  We are so blessed that you are such a good baby and sleep so well.  You continue to smile at us and just bring us so much joy.  I cannot get over how cute you are and how much love I have for you.  You have definitely made mommy’s life complete.  I love you.
